Shijingshan district will start construction of Yongding River grand bridge section of the west extension line of Chang’an Avenue in 2018, reported Beijing Daily on January 17, 2018.
The Yongding River grand bridge under construction is expected to complete in December 2019. By that time, the west extension line of Chang’an Avenue, a main road in western Beijing, will open to traffic.
The 6,460-meter-long west extension line of Chang’an Avenue starts from Sanshi road, Mentougou district and ends at Gucheng street, Shijingshan district, crossing the Fengtai-Shacheng railway and the Yongding River.
So far, the project’s two sections in Mentougou and Shijingshan have been finished. The Fengtai-Shacheng railway has reopened after part of it turned into underground to make way for the west extension line of Chang’an Avenue.
Chang'an Avenue, running east-westward through the Beijing city proper, is known as the first street and façade of the capital, where some iconic landmarks, such as Tian'anmen Square, the Forbidden City, are located.
The main section of Chang'an Avenue runs from Gongzhufen to Guomao, which is located within the 3rd Ring Road.
Besides the west extension line of Chang’an Avenue, this year, Shijinshan will also build two south-north traffic arteries: Gucheng south street of 1,620 meters long, linking the west extension line of Chang’an Avenue to Lianshi Road and north section of Beixin’an Road of 2,150 meters long, linking the west extension line of Chang’an Avenue to Fushi Road.
