The First Session of the 13th Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), a political advisory body, will open at 15:00 on January 22, 2018.
A total of 759 members of the CPPCC Beijing Committee will attend the session which will last for six and a half days. Qianlong.com will make webcast during the session.
The 759 political advisors will hear and deliberate a report about the work of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC Beijing Committee and a report on how the Standing Committee has handled proposals from CPPCC Beijing Committee members since the previous session.
The political advisors will also be present at the first plenary meeting and fourth plenary meeting of the first session of the 15th Beijing Municipal People’s Congress as non-voting participants, hearing and discussing a report on the work of the government. They will discuss major political, economic and social issues concerning Beijing’s development during this year's session.
The political advisors will elect Chairman, Vice Chairmen, Secretary-General and the Standing Committee members of the 13th Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPPCC. They will deliberate and approve the political decisions of the First Session of the 13th Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPPCC.
The CPPCC is an important organ for multiparty cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. It is an important means of promoting socialist democracy.
