He Bing, member of 13th Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Beijing Committee and actor from Beijing People’s Art Theatre, said during a talk show of Qianlong.com on January 23, 2018, he brought a proposal and a report of social conditions and public opinions concerning strengthening the construction of theatres’ overall development and supporting facilities in Beijing to the 1st Session of the 13th CPPCC Beijing Committee this year.
He Bing said in the show that the year of 2018 is a very important year for Beijing People’s Art Theatre for another Beijing People’s Art Theatre will be built next to Capital Airport in the near future. As a 30-year veteran actor in the theatre, he has high expectations for that.
“Many countries in the world build theaters in clusters like in the Broadway area in the U.S. and London’s West End area in Britain. In Beijing, there is a famous snack street called Guijie, where restaurants are thriving with healthy competition. I hope Beijing will have its own ‘Broadway’ in the future,” he said.
In He Bing’s opinion, drama and the arts are enjoyments and dining and theatergoing are part of cultural life. Therefore, he proposed to strengthen the construction of supporting facilities around theaters in Beijing. For example, cafes, restaurants and bookstores can be built for parties or business for the comfort and convenience of citizens in life.
