On the morning of the January 20, Zheng Xiaolong appeared at the meeting site as a political advisor of Beijing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). The celebrated director said he will submit a proposal of strengthening the protection of intellectual property rights and cracking down on the piracy during the fourth session of the 12th Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPPCC.

Insisting on and strengthening Beijing’s strategic positioning as a cultural center, the intellectual property protection is indispensable to the sustainable and orderly development of cultural industries. Zheng Xiaolong suggested that the government should make more efforts, for example, enhancing the civic consciousness of intellectual property protection, improving legal system, strengthening the ability of the public security system to protect intellectual property rights and refining joint efforts to crack down on the piracy.

Intellectual property protection (IPR) is an effective legal safeguard to maintain an innovative industry. “Given to the interests brought by piracy, some people take to do the deal. This behavior is pilfering,” Zheng said. It is to the benefit of establishing a favorable environment for literacy works creation if dramas both in Internet and on TV are applied to the same screening standard, Zheng added.
