The coverage rate of family doctor services in the five special groups of elders, disabled elders, disabled people, children as well as pregnant and lying-in women will reach 90 percent in Beijing by the end of 2017, according to the Fifth Session of the 14th Beijing Municipal People’s Congress on January 16, 2017.
Fang Laiying, director of Beijing Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning, expressed that in 2017 their major work is to promote family doctor services in Beijing. “Currently, the coverage rate of family doctor services in the five special groups of elders, disabled elders, disabled people, children as well as pregnant and lying-in women is about 70 percent in Beijing, so it’s a challenging job to increase it to 90 percent,” she said.
In addition, Fang introduced their last year work in improving the city’s medical services like promoting appointment services in municipal hospitals, with an average appointment rate of 55.8 percent and a reexamination appointment rate of 68 percent in AAA hospitals, and making time-sharing appointment services available in 70 medical institutions in Beijing.
