Deputies to the Beijing Municipal People’s Congress had a hot discussion on the annual work report of the Beijing Municipal People’s Government during the group meeting of Xicheng District of the 2nd Session of the 15th Beijing Municipal People’s Congress on the afternoon of January 14, 2019.
After reading the detailed information and accurate figures in the report, deputies spoke out their sense of gain and happiness and actively gave suggestions about Beijing’s work in promoting business environment, city management, improving people’s life, scientific and technological innovation and government construction.
During the meeting, deputy Li Yuanfang shared the changes in her life and spoke highly of the government’s work in improving people’s life. She lives in Xidan of Xicheng District, a commercial area where life was inconvenient for residents before as there were few greengrocers.
However, with the government’s continuous advancement of convenience service work in the city, there are newly-opened greengrocers, community service stations and libraries on the doorstep, which greatly facilitate residents’ life in Xidan.
Huang Yipin, a deputy working for a private enterprise, expressed that he had truly experienced the obvious improvement of business environment in Beijing. In recent years, the government has launched online services and streamlined the approval procedure so that enterprises can be run more efficiently, with a more significant tax reduction.
In 2018, he was most impressed with the meticulous city management in Beijing. He suggested that the government should also strengthen the property management of new commercial housing communities in addition to the urban renewal and environment promotion work at old communities.
“I used to have a yearning for the good life on television, but now we are actually living such a life in Beijing owing to the great efforts of the government,” deputy Xie Geng said at the meeting.
When talking about the construction of “15-minute community service circles" in Beijing, he suggested the government should pay more attention to the construction of service quality. “For example, there is a hospital within the "15-minute community service circle" of my home, but some diseases can still not be checked there. I suggest more attention to the service quality construction of the circles so as to meet people’s increasing demands for a better life.”
