Beijing’s total operation mileage of rail transit is expected to reach 699.3 kilometers by the end of 2019, according to Rong Jun, deputy director of the city’s transport commission on January 15, 2019.
Beijing will keep the amount of motor vehicles around 6.2 million and make green transport reach 74 percent of the total at the end of 2019.
Beijing will strengthen efforts in the comprehensive renovation of transport and strive to improve the conditions of green transport in 2019, according to the government work report delivered by the city’s mayor Chen Jining on January 14, 2019.
According to the government work report, Beijing will complete the optimization of its public transportation network this year.
Beijing will open three lines of rail transit, namely, the eastern extension of Line 7, the southern extension of Bawangfeng-Tongzhou Line and the Phase I of the New Airport Line, making the total operation mileage of rail transit stand at 699.3 km.
Beijing will finish the construction of arterial roads like the western extension of the Chang’an Avenue and 25 sub-arterial roads as well as the renovation of 850 kilometers’ bikeways.
Beijing will deepen renovation of the transport conversion environment in its three railway stations: Beijing South Railway Station, Beijing West Railway Station and Beijing Railway Station.
Beijing is going to perfect the transport programs of the Fengtai Railway Station and others to be newly built.
In addition, Beijing will regulate the transport order of non-motor vehicles and strictly investigate and punish the illegal behaviors such as running a red light and going in the wrong direction.
